About Us
The Emerald City Women’s Chorus is a non-audition chorus in North Seattle that provides an easy-going, fun, welcoming, and supportive community for all women who love to sing simply for the joy of it.
We sing a mix of 3- and 4-part music and a variety of genres, including contemporary, classical, folk and rock ‘n roll.
Besides having fun, we continually strive for an excellent sound.
We value inclusion, all types of music, and a manageable time commitment with one rehearsal a week.
Our amazing music staff are director Tom Hecker and accompanist Casie Dietrich.

Every time we sang "Glory" from the movie "Selma" I got that spine-tingling feeling because it was so meaningful. I was able to do the rap part which added to the emotional feeling. I will never forget it!!

A few years ago, we were encouraged to do duets at a concert. It was challenging, but ultimately really rewarding. I was so glad for the encouragement and opportunity!

When we sang "Over the Rainbow" at the spring concert tribute to Jo-Ann Christen, I found myself tearing up. Not because I knew her (I didn't), but because words that might seem “cheesy” in the abstract are lovely when put to music with 40 other women. Now I have to learn how to sing when I want to cry.
